NOTE: The original poster of the TikTok videos removed them. Here’s a screen capture of part of the fight.
A bystander’s cell phone video captured a physical altercation between St. Anthony, Minn., police officers and at least three other parties Wednesday morning in the parking lot of Cub Foods on the 3900 block of Silver Lake Road.
A Minneapolis police dispatcher aired about 10:20 a.m. that St. Anthony police were requesting help from Minneapolis police officers in the 2nd Precinct because they were fighting with a party at Cub Foods, which is near the border of the Northeast Minneapolis area.
Not much else was aired at the time, and St. Anthony police radio communications are encrypted.
However, a video surfaced on TikTok later in the day which appeared to show the altercation as it played out. The video was filmed by an apparent Instacart shopper who just happened to be in the parking lot at the time.
We’re working to find out the details of what led up to the altercation, but the video begins with police scuffling in the parking lot with at least one woman in pink pants when another woman in a red jacket rushes into the scene.
The female in pink pants was taken down by two officers while another scuffle ensued behind them with three other people including the woman in the red jacket. It’s unclear from the video who the parties were in that second scuffle.
The Instacart worker indicated that she tried to intervene at one point when a woman was on top of an officer. Shortly thereafter, the woman in red could be seen in handcuffs with an officer while a male with dreads made aggressive gestures toward police who were still scuffling with two women on the ground.
At one point, a female officer pointed a taser at the male with dreads in an apparent attempt to get him to back away from the officers struggling with one of the females on the ground.
The video showed the two women on the ground were finally subdued by police.
The Instacart worker ended the video stating she received a couple of scratches in the melee.
The Instacart worker uploaded another short video clip later which she called Part 1, apparently indicating that what was depicted occurred prior to the melee. That short clip showed the woman in pink pants ramming a shopping cart several times into a vehicle and somewhat of an altercation ensuing between her and the male with dreads, which indicates the whole thing may have stemmed from a domestic situation.
We’ll update if more details about the incident becomes available or arrest information can be obtained. As always, follow us on Twitter for the latest.
