Vehicle pulled from Bde Maka Ska in Minneapolis

By Crime Watch MN, May 6, 2024

A vehicle was pulled from Bde Maka Ska (formerly Lake Calhoun) on Monday in Minneapolis, Minn.

Crime Watch reported that responders were dispatched to the lake on Sunday afternoon just before 3 p.m. after a boater reported seeing a vehicle under the water on the east side of the lake about 40 feet from shore, according to police scanner audio.

After speaking with the boater and surveying the situation, responders determined that the vehicle was covered with organic matter, indicating that it had been in the water for some time.

Responders scaled back the response after determining that it wasn’t an immediate rescue situation.

Hennepin County Water Patrol returned to the lake on Monday with heavy equipment to remove the vehicle from the lake.

After being pulled from the water, the vehicle appeared to be a Kia, which are frequently stolen in Minneapolis and the Twin Cities.

There was no immediate word of anything significant being found in the vehicle or whether it was a confirmed stolen vehicle.
