Truck crashes into building in NE Minneapolis Wednesday
By Crime Watch MN, July 17, 2024
A truck smashed into a building in Northeast Minneapolis just before noon Wednesday.
Crime Watch posted at the time that it was reported to be an Xcel Energy truck that crashed into the building at 700 East Hennepin Ave, based on police scanner audio.
Arriving officers canceled EMS response, indicating there were no serious injuries to the driver or anyone in the building.
However, the fire department was requested to continue to the site to check the structural integrity of the building. An officer then asked the dispatcher to expedite MFD’s response because part of the building had collapsed.
Traffic in the area was shut down for a time as the scene was taped off following the crash.
The Artist Social Network posted on their Facebook page that the building which contains the Supply Studio, described as a creative space for artists, had suffered extensive damage in the crash.
Crime Watch will continue to follow developments to learn what may have led to the crash.
