This is a developing story.

By Crime Watch MN, Jan. 9, 2023

Edina, Minn., police responded after noon to a report of a shooting or shots fired near the Hennepin County Service Center at Southdale Mall.

A person on site at the mall contacted Crime Watch and said a single shot was heard and they saw a blood trail. The blood trail information was confirmed by police over dispatch audio.

Officers from several surrounding agencies have arrived to assist with the mall lockdown including Bloomington, Richfield, Hopkins, Eden Prairie, and the Hennepin County Sheriff, per audio.

Police aired that some of the incident and the suspect involved were captured on video, and they think it may have been an accidental discharge of a firearm.

A black male with long dreads, khaki pants and black hat was seen running from a mall exit.

Police are sweeping the mall and it sounds like the lockdown will be lifted shortly.
