Shots fired at two locations in Northeast Minneapolis Friday
By Crime Watch MN, July 23, 2022
There were two reports of shots fired in Northeast Minneapolis late Friday night.
We reported the first incident just before 11:30 p.m. at 19th and Johnson Street Northeast, according to dispatch audio. A red car was reported to be leaving the scene northbound on Johnson at the time. When police arrived, they aired that they “found quite a few casings” at the location. Police indicated to the dispatcher to listen for any gunshot victims that may show up at the hospital.
Several minutes later, at 11:56 p.m., the dispatcher aired a report of shots fired at 700 Lowry Avenue Northeast. Police arrived to find spent shell casings at the Handy Stop gas station parking lot.
Police subsequently aired the suspect descriptions as at least two black males. One was reported to be 5'8", slim build, wearing a black t-shirt and blue basketball shorts. The other was described as 6', medium length dreadlocks, heavy build, wearing a white shirt and jeans. A silver SUV and a white Suburban with a red fender were reported to be involved. Crime Lab was requested to process the scene.
As of 2 a.m. Saturday, we had not learned of any injury reports.
