Overnight shooting in Uptown Minneapolis leaves one injured
By Crime Watch MN, Aug. 14, 2022
Evidence markers littered the street on Lagoon Avenue just west of Hennepin Avenue following an early morning shooting Sunday.
We reported just before 2 a.m. that a report of a shooting had been aired over police dispatch, originally stated near West Lake Street and Hennepin Avenue.
The dispatcher aired that 911 callers reported the victim to be a black male with dreads in camouflage pants who was shot in the leg.
Police arrived in the area within two minutes and didn’t immediately locate a victim but did find the scene of the crime on Lagoon Avenue just west of Hennepin Avenue.
The dispatcher updated police that the victim had been seen getting into a vehicle. Just after 2 a.m., a Hennepin County deputy at HCMC hospital aired to dispatch that a gunshot victim had been dropped off from a white Buick, which then took off.
Several photos were submitted to Crime Watch by a bystander who captured the scene including several evidence placards on the ground marking the location of spent shell casings — at least 21 were visible.
Further information about the victim’s injuries or condition wasn’t immediately available, and no public statement was issued by police about the shooting.
