By Crime Watch MN, Jan. 25, 2023
Minneapolis tallied its 5th homicide of the new year just after noon on Wednesday.
Crime Watch reported that police were dispatched to a report of shots heard in the area of 22nd and Emerson Avenue North about 12:03 p.m. As officers were responding, the dispatcher updated the incident to a shooting.
Police arrived and taped off the crime scene. Information was aired that the shooting had occurred right in front of a Metro Transit bus. Other officers tracked down the bus to retrieve video.
Audio reported to be the sound of shots from the incident indicated at least nine shots were fired.
The Minneapolis Police Department later put out a statement saying that the male in his 40s died at the scene. No arrests had been made at the time.
Minneapolis is ahead of last year’s homicide pace which didn’t record its 5th homicide until the second week in February.
