Police process the scene of a fatal shooting in Edina, MN

A man died reportedly from a gunshot wound to the head Saturday night outside the recently opened Ichiban restaurant in Edina, Minn.

Crime Watch reported that responders were dispatched just after 9 p.m. to the 3500 block of West 70th Street on a report of a shooting. Dispatch audio indicated that a person had been shot in the head.

Several sources reported to Crime Watch that the scene appeared to be at or outside the Ichiban restaurant.

One photo provided to Crime Watch showed that law enforcement had canopies set up at the scene of the incident, likely to protect evidence during the investigation.

Within the last hour, the Edina Police Department has confirmed that despite lifesaving measures the victim died at the scene.

Edina police said that the suspect remained on scene, and they believe the suspect and victim were known to each other.

It was just days ago that another man was killed in a stabbing at an Edina bus stop during a reported “random” encounter.

We will continue to follow developments and charges in the new shooting case.
