This is a developing situation and information is based in initial police scanner audio and may significantly change or be updated.

Just after 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, Crime Watch reported that Minneapolis police were in a foot pursuit of a suspect that became an “officer help call,” and that shots had been fired.

Police were initially dispatched to the area of the MotoMart at 33rd and Hiawatha Avenue on a report of a person with a gun. The suspect was initially described as a white male, with light facial hair, a hat, and jeans.

While in pursuit of the suspect who took off on foot when police arrived, one officer aired “shots fired.” EMS was immediately requested for the suspect who was reported to be shot, and CPR was being performed.

Subsequent dispatches indicated that the suspect was in “critical” condition and that all officers were “AOK.”

Further audio indicated that the approximately 25-year-old male subject was transported to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and was in “traumatic [cardiac] arrest.”

Officers who were involved or witnessed the shooting were reportedly individually escorted downtown to the public safety facility.

Police indicated that the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension had been contacted, and that they arrived on the scene just before 10:30 p.m.
