Minneapolis carjacking captured on video

Another Minneapolis carjacking has been captured on video, this time in the Dinkytown area near the University of Minnesota campus.

Crime Watch posted just after 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, on a report of a carjacking on the 800 block of 13th Avenue Southeast. A 911 caller reported that their mom had been carjacked, according to dispatch audio.

The initial report stated up to four males were involved. Police later updated that at least one was a black male who approached the driver wearing a blue jacket and gray jeans. Another suspect was reported to be wearing red. Two of the suspects were reportedly armed with guns.

Crime Watch subsequently obtained a short video clip of the carjacking in which at least three or four suspects can be seen surrounding the vehicle.

We posted surveillance video over last weekend of another Minneapolis carjacking of a woman captured on video from last Friday on the 1600 block of Elliot Avenue on the southern edge of downtown. In that incident, two suspects strong-arm robbed a woman of her keys and took her vehicle nearly running her over.
