Active shooter in Minneapolis ends in officer involved shooting early Saturday

An officer in south Minneapolis, Minn., reported hearing shots fired several times within a few minutes about 4:36 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, near his location at 38th and Minnehaha Ave. S.
Several officers responded and dialed down the sound of continuing shots to an apartment building on the 4000 block of Minnehaha Ave S.
Multiple shots continued to be fired from inside an apartment building by a suspect initially described as a bald white male with several guns.
A drone operator arrived from another agency, while SWAT officers were paged to the scene.
Police eventually made entry into the building about 5:35 a.m. amid continued gunfire from the suspect, when shots were reportedly fired by police striking the suspect. Police on site aired that it was an officer involved shooting. Police Chief Brian O’Hara arrived at the scene a short time later.
The suspect was transported by EMS from the scene. No information yet on his condition or the extent of his injuries.
Officers indicated that several guns had been recovered from inside the apartment, and the building had spent shell casings throughout.
